Gamers...: Hows your monday going?
Steam punk is a genre of speculative fiction that basically explores the "what if we'd stuck with steam power?" question. In simple terms, games with steam punk themes tend to have a Victorian or similar era, lots of steam machinery, lots of clockwork with either minimalist modern machines and such or a twist which fits them more with the era.
Anyways, Arcanum is easily the best steampunk rpg outthere. To me it's also one of the best rpgs out there. It's got a lot of unique things going for it. Super buggy however, just like all 3 of Troika Games titles.
Another steampunk game is the PS2 light hearted adventure game known as Steambot Chronicles.(Wasn't sure if you were looking for all steampunk games, or just the western ones, sorry.) The controls are easily the worst thing about it(They're not bad mind you. They absolutely work, they're just really...realistic for what you are in.), and storyline and the characters are about as childish as it gets, but if you like the idea of running around in a steam powered mech suit in a world with a bunch of other steam powered mech suits and cars in the 60's type world, you might enjoy it. I myself, I'm still kinda on the fence about the game. I enjoy it, but it's very hit and miss.
....
Can't think of any more steampunk titles, but once again, tomorrow if you'd like a good list, I'll list a lot of western rpgs for you.
I'd take a list though, since you're offering. Always on the lookout for good titles.
@Fausk: Well, yes. It isn't quite steam but it has the similar elements here as there (As dieselpunk does) and, honestly, I wanted a game which I had a higher chance of people viewing my notice on in my related list. Also, I'd watched a friend's brother play a portion earlier in the week.
@Fallout: No, no. I meant westerns. (And games in a general Western setting.)
@Booiing: Indeed. It's on the list of things I'm currently semi-playing. Although I admittedly suck at it when playing real people.
